Zinc Countertops

Zinc FAQ

Where Can Zinc be Used?

Zinc is a great option for kitchen countertops, wet bars, back-splashes, and range hoods.

What are the Finish Options?

Zinc is available in a mirror-polish or a matte finish. We can also add a patina to your countertop, cutting out the time it will take to create an antiqued look. For back-splashes, quilted patterns are commonly requested.

How Thick can a Zinc Countertop be?

We use 14-gauge sheet (approximately 1/16" thick). The sheets are bonded to solid, waterproof MDF. Finished edges can be built-up to any height, 1-½” is standard.

How do I Clean a Zinc Countertop?

We recommend Windex or “Stainless Steel Magic” for day-to-day cleaning.

How will the Patina Change Over Time?

Your Zinc countertop is not protected or coated with lacquer, it is a “living finish” and will be effected by certain elements that will either remove or add to the patina. Acidic items such as lemon juice and metal polish may remove patina while many other items will add to it. Zinc is a reactive metal so the patina will change and develop over time.

Will a Zinc Countertop Stain or Rust?

No, a Zinc Countertop will not rust or stain. Zinc is a reactive metal so you can expect the patina to change and develop over time.

Can I Cut on a Zinc Countertop?

If you wish to minimize scratch marks and preserve your knife blades, use a cutting board for chopping.

Can I Put Hot Pots on a Zinc Countertop?

Always use a hot plate or trivet when transferring items from an oven to a countertop.

Can a Sink be Built into the Countertop?

We can fabricate a custom integral sink (rectangular, square, or round) and weld it in as a seamless part of any top. We can also under-mount or cut-in any sink that you provide. Holes for faucets and accessories such as hot water inserts and soap dispensers are available.

What Type of Warranty do You Offer?

Our Zinc countertops come with a full one-year warranty. Brooks Custom will repair or replace, at our option, any faulty product deemed to have been caused by manufacturing defects. Items must be returned to this location if not installed by us. Incidental work or adjacent materials are not included in warranty coverage.

How Long Will it Take to get my Zinc Countertop?

Typically it takes 4-6 weeks to fabricate your Zinc countertop, from the time we receive approved shop-drawings from you.

How can I get pricing?
