Blowers:
Our blowers are imported from Germany. They may be used with variable speed switches and are extremely quiet and highly efficient.
Blower Capacity:
The main function of a range hood is to remove the heat, smoke and fumes of cooking, baking or frying. Since there are different types and sizes of cook-tops or ovens, it is important to size the range hood exhaust output correctly.
The heat output of your cook-top is measured in BTU’s/per hour. The range hood exhaust capacity is measured in CFM (cubic feet of air per minute). Typically, you can expect approximately 100 CFM per 10,000 BTU.
For example, If you have a Thermador 48” gas cook-top with a 60,000 BTU/per hour heat output, you would choose a 600 CFM blower for your range-hood.
If there is a very long run of duct-work or a lot of turns, you might want to increase that figure. There are various different methods of determining the amount of air-flow needed for a cooking area. We recommend contacting an HVAC professional, architect or engineer for complex interior applications.
Ducting:
We supply our hoods with round or square duct flanges as needed.
We make flu covers and extensions for all designs.
Our Range Hoods are available in 300, 600 and 1,200 CFM. The following matching duct size can be used for your project:
300 CFM = 4” Round Duct
600 CFM = 6” Round Duct
1200 CFM = 10” Round Duct
You may need to convert to rectangular shapes to run inside your walls. Calculate for the same amount of cubic inches.
For example: using the formula for the area of a circle A = 3.14 X Radius X Radius ( Pi*R 2)
A 6" round duct has 3.14 X 3 x 3 = 28.26 sq inches
A rectangular duct of 3" X 10" or 4" x 8" would work as well for the job.
Filters:
We supply mesh or baffle style filter panels, which can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.
The following sizes are used:
- Small - for modern, apartment living.
- Large - for above an island
- Extra Large - for multiple ranges and frying stations.
Lighting:
We install 110v 60w halogen flood lamps.
We also offer low-voltage Puck lights.
These give a bright broad-spectrum white color rendition.
Switches:
We use UL approved infinitely variable switches for both blowers and lighting.
This gives smooth control ability only available on a custom made hood.
